The CryoPulse measurement platform: high B/T material properties testing

General description and application areas

Metis' CryoPulse Platform is a compact and user friendly research instrument that presents an opportunity for small and medium scale laboratories to perform sensitive experiments in high magnetic fields up to 50 Tesla at a minimal cost.

The CryoPulse Platform is based on a compact capacitor bank with limited foot print. The system is equipped with pulsed high field magnets that are capable of generating 40 to 50 Tesla with a pulse duration of the order of 10 - 20 ms, depending on the available energy.

For maximum reliability and operator safety, the installation is equipped with security interlocks and remote control through a fiber-optic link. A full range of cryogenics, measuring probes and signal processing electronics are available for magneto-transport, magnetization and optical experiments.

The CryoPulse Platform is particularly suited for low-temperature investigations of

  • Electrical resistivity
  • the magnetic properties of spin-Peierls compounds, Mn-Oxide CMR materials and Fe-

    Oxide garnet compounds
  • the photoluminescent properties of low dimensional semiconductors structures

    such as self-assembled quantum dots and quantum wells.


A full range of cryogenics, measuring probes and signal processing electronics are available for

magneto-transport, magnetization and magneto-optical experiments.

The system has a modular architecture, facilitating upgrades to higher energies in order to

accommodate higher peak fields or extended pulse lengths.
